TWIN LIGHTS LIGHTHOUSE: Climb one of the two light towers. See the lighthouse museum. Spectacular views including New York City. Off Route 36 North, Highlands, New Jersey. Approximately 15 minutes.
SANDY HOOK NATIONAL PARK: Nature and Visitors Center, Hiking, fishing, bicycle riding. Oldest operating lighthouse in the United States. Visit old bunkers, see Nike missles. Off Route 36 North just above Sea Bright, New Jersey. Approximately 12 minutes.
MOUNT MITCHELL SCENIC OVERLOOK: Spectacular views on a clear day of New York City and Long Islands. Approximately 12 minutes north off Route 36. Make a right at scenic overlook sign.
JENKINSON’S AQUARIUM: Penquins, seals, sharks, touch tank. Allow about two hours. Check feeding schedule. On the northern side of the Point Pleasant Beach Boardwalk. About 35 minutes.
POINT PLEASANT BEACH BOARDWALK: Arcades, Jenkinson’s Aquarium, shops, family oriented boardwalk. Metered parking. Approximately 35 minutes south. Take Route 35 South.

JERSEY SHORE PREMIUM OUTLETS: One hundred and twenty stores, most of them national outlets. Off Route 66 in nearby Tinton Falls. Approximately twenty minutes.
MONMOUTH MALL: Indoor enclosed mall. Stores include Boscov’s, JC Penney, Lord and Taylor, and Macy’s. At the intersection of Routes 35 and 36. Approximately twelve minutes.

MONMOUTH PARK RACE TRACK: Operates Fridays through Sunday and Holidays in season, usually from early May through October. Features some of the top thoroughbred racing in the country including the million dollar Haskell Handicap as seen on national TV. Sundays they have face painting, clowns, and activities for children. Also they have a large picnic area for families, but come early as this section fills up quickly.
